TPtest:
Some info about the program:
TPtest is a program written for evaluation of the actual bandwidth in a network, like KistaIP LAN or
the Internet. It's being supported by the IIS and Konsumentverket. It is open source and have been tested by SP.
Please refer to the
TPTEST site
for more info.
The version you can download from this site, is specifically modified for use at KistaIP. I have used the code
from version 2.02 with only minor changes. This version is trying to connect to change.kistaip.net,
which is only reachable from inside the KistaIP net. I have also added a function for writing the
result to a text file.
If you have any questions regarding my modified version of TPtest, contact me, Dan Kopparhed,
through
helpdesk kistaip.net
Step-by-step instructions:
Download
TPtest from this site
- Start it by double-clicking on the exe file (no install)
- Just press the big button "Start standard test"
- Wait for the test to complete. You know it's finished when a message box says "Test finished!"
- Now select menu item "File" and "Write results to log file". This creates a file
called "tptest.log.txt" in the same directory as the executable.
- Mail that file to
helpdesk
kistaip.net as an attachment,
or you can paste the contents into the mail.
Important! Make sure to put this exact string (the blue text) in the subject of the mail:
"[kistaip.net #103]". Also, please put your apartment nr (e.g. lgh00) in the subject.
The results you get depend on the load of the network. If you try at different occasions,
you will get different results.
You may also test against another server on the Internet. Choose one in the list in the program,
select the type of test you want, then press the small "Start test" button.
