Use TPtest. Read more  here.

New tenant who wants Internet connection?
In order to start using the network you need to go to Svenska Bostäder and collect a media converter. Tenants of KTH have all the equipment already mounted in the apartments.

Presently, all you have to do is to plug in your computer to the media converter. Check out the FAQ on the right ->.
If you connected your computer correctly, you should automatically get an ip address (via DHCP) that looks similar to "192.16.126.x". Now you have internet access. Happy surfing ;)

Check your IP address
It is often important to know what ip address you have, to be able to solve network problems. In windows:
1) Open a Command Prompt (e.g. by opening "RUN" and typing "cmd").
2) Type "ipconfig".
3) Look at row saying "IP Address. . . . :".

You don't need any passwords!
- Presently we don't use passwords, but this will change in the future.

Mails
Outgoing mails (SMTP) are filtered from KistaIP to avoid spamming from our network. Please use the outgoing SMTP server.

Mail server
We have an outgoing SMTP mail server you can use. It supports SSL encryption (port 25). There are some restrictions to avoid abuse, but you can use it from inside the KistaIP network.
Mail server address: mail.kistaip.net

Abuse: FTP servers at kistaIP
It's forbidden to run FTP servers that listen on other ports then the standard port (21). The net is being scanned for this and the apartments where such servers is discovered will immediately be shutdown from network access. The reason for this is the net security policy of KTH.

Abuse: Viruses
Please always use firewalls and antivirus (updated!). An unprotected computer is an easy target for worms/viruses/trojan horses etc. If you get infected, you will be detected and blocked from internet access.

Abuse: Atonement
If you have lost internet connection, it is likely that you have been detected as an abuser and been blocked. To resolve this, contact the administrator. You will have to clean your computer before access is granted again, otherwise you will just be blocked again.

Power failure
We have a remarkable (for Stockholm, Sweden) history of power failures in Kista. There is a risk for network problems after even a short power failure. Usually the power failure related problems are solved within hours after the return of power.

Network speed
Network "speed" at KistaIP may vary. Speed is always lowest during the prime surfing hours (about 18.00 to 21.00).
