Information about KistaIP
KistaIPnet is a private network connecting 144 student
apartments at Kista Allvg 2-14 in Kista, Stockholm, Sweden.
The network is owned by Svenska Bostder and is operated by
the Telecommunication Systems Laboratory (TSlab) at KTH.
The Kista IP network is used as a test bed for new technology and services.
It is located next to the KTH university campus in Kista as well as close to many
leading IT companies. The combination of high tech equipment, technology optimistic
tenants/students and ground breaking research and development at an attractive location
makes KistaIPnet an excellent test bed.
Projects currently involved with the KistaIPnet test bed concerns IP-TV, IP-telephony, Open neutral networks,
quality of service, triple play services, mobility, vlans, business models, private GSM/GPRS networks and more.
KistaIPnet is connected to the Internet through the KTH research network SSVL. It is also connected
to the Stockholm Open Local Internet eXhange, SOLIX. SOLIX
is a network where actors can peer with each other and exchange traffic.
The Internet connection is currently given free of charge for the
tenants/students living at Kista IP. Commercial access to Internet will be made available to the tenants
at KistaIP from various operators in the future.
